“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 NLT The main theme of this verse is salvation. What is salvation, you may be thinking?
Salvation, just as a word in the English Language, is defined as:
Noun; preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss
In Christianity, we see it as (using Google's definition):
deliverance from sin and its consequences, believed by Christians to be brought about by faith in Christ
The Bible tells us that the consequences of sin is ultimately death, and permanent separation from God. As humans beings, our sin will always stand between us and God, because God is perfect, we are not. Thankfully we serve such an incredibly loving and compassionate God, who gives us immeasurable grace through salvation, saving us from our sin and it's consequences.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 NLT To keep us from being separated from Him forever, God, because of his incredible amount of love for us, sent us his one, and only, son, Jesus.
Jesus lived as a human, but unlike the rest of us, he lived a perfect life. He did not sin. And although he was the son on God, he lived his life humbly, as a servant to humanity, healing people, and preaching and teaching of God's love to everyone. He is the perfect example for all of us, on how we should live our lives to glorify God.
In the greatest act of love of all time, Jesus was sacrificed, on a cross, for all our sins. He defeated death, and rose from the grave, so we would be able to experience God's never-ending & unfailing love, grace, mercy and forgiveness.
OUR KING DIED FOR US.
God watched his son suffer, for US. God loves us that much. He knew the only way to not be separated from us for eternity, was to send his son, to defeat death. Let that sink in...our creator- who is self-sufficient, self-existent, and all powerful- LOVES US THAT MUCH. He doesn't need us, we need him, although we like to think we don't. He chooses us!! He wants to be in a relationship with us.
We get to have eternal life with Jesus in Heaven. The most perfect place ever created. My prayer is that we never take this for granted and allow the world to think we need it's things, acceptance, or views.
I recently watched this video, and have watched it a few times since. Take some time to watch and reflect.
